Ogiwara-Sensei and Kawamura-Sensei were both piano students
of Dr.Kataoka as children and continued their studies under
her at the piano department of the Suzuki Music School for
Teacher Training. They teach at the Talent Education Institute
and have shared their expertise in Piano Basics workshops
in the U.S.
Their time abroad is limited, so the Institute is grateful
that they have consented to come to Utah to instruct teachers
and students in Master Classes during a 25-hour workshop June
9-13 from 10:30-4:30. They will also conduct a daily question
session.
For an additional fee, Institute students of teachers registered
in the Piano Basics Workshop may sign up for one Master Class
Lesson with the teachers from Japan. This will be in addition
to the regular Institute schedule which includes four Master
Classes with the Institute faculty.
Our guest faculty from Japan has requested that they alternate
their teaching of Master Classes. Registered teachers who
desire a Master Class during the workshop should indicate
this on the registration form. Because lesson slots will be
filled on a first-come first serve basis in the order registrations
are received, there is no guarantee that every teacher wishing
a Master Class will receive one.
Teachers may combine an SAA Book Unit or Practicum with
the Piano Basics workshop, using the workshop observation
to supplement the eight hours required for the SAA Unit.
